Why Choose FP Bois Flooring?
FP Bois is a family-owned French timber manufacturer based in Mimizan in the Landes region of southwest France, where they have been producing timber flooring and panelling since 1953. The business has grown from a single sawmill into one of the largest finishing plants in southwest France, with a full range covering solid wood, engineered wood, SPC vinyl and bamboo flooring.
What distinguishes FP Bois from a standard timber flooring supplier is the combination of French forest sourcing — all Bordeaux pine comes from PEFC and FSC certified Landes forests, with 16,000 hectares replanted annually — and the Pure Home technology that runs through their solid wood flooring and panelling ranges. This is not a marketing claim. Pure Home is a patented, independently tested finish technology that actively eliminates formaldehyde, VOCs, and bacteria from indoor air. More on this below.
FP Bois Solid Bordeaux Pine Flooring
What is Bordeaux pine flooring?
Bordeaux pine is the regional name for maritime pine — Pinus pinaster — grown in the Landes forest of southwest France. It is the same species sold across the UK as maritime pine or simply pine flooring. The FP Bois solid pine flooring range is produced at their Mimizan factory from timber grown within a short distance of the production site — one of the shortest supply chains available for a European softwood floor.
Solid Bordeaux pine flooring is available in two construction types. The solid format (21mm thick, 170mm wide, 2000mm long) is designed to be nailed down over a timber subfloor. The engineered format (14mm thick, 150mm wide, 1818mm long) has a solid pine wear layer over a plywood base and can be glued or floated — making it suitable for use over underfloor heating and on concrete subfloors.
Finishes and colourways
The solid pine flooring range is available in six finishes, all oil-based and all carrying the Pure Home air-purifying technology:
- Naturel Oiled — the most natural-looking finish, showing the full warm grain of the pine
- Lessivé Miel — a lightly washed honey tone, brightening the natural colour
- Grisé Distressed Oiled — a grey-toned distressed finish for a reclaimed or aged look
- Sépia Distressed Oiled — a warm brown distressed finish with strong character
- Bronze Distressed Damaged Oiled — the most heavily distressed finish in the range
- Praline Distressed Damaged Oiled — a warm praline brown with a rich, aged character
The distressed finishes are particularly well suited to open-plan living spaces, period properties and commercial hospitality interiors where an aged timber floor would have been traditional.
Pure Home technology on pine flooring
All FP Bois solid pine flooring carries Pure Home technology — a patented finish developed by the FP Bois research and development team and tested in accordance with ISO 16000-23 (formaldehyde) and ISO 22196 (bacteria and viruses).
In standardised testing, Pure Home eliminates 83% of formaldehyde within the first seven days and 99.8% of bacteria within 24 hours. The technology is effective against formaldehyde and VOCs, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Influenza A (H1N1), and a human coronavirus strain. The air-purifying action continues for the lifetime of the floor finish — estimated at seven years in normal residential use.
Indoor air in a modern, well-insulated UK home is typically five to ten times more polluted than outdoor air. Formaldehyde is released continuously from MDF, laminate flooring, adhesives, and composite wood products — even years after installation. A Pure Home floor actively reduces that concentration rather than simply avoiding contributing to it.
Solid pine flooring installed — how it looks in a real room
The distressed oiled finishes are particularly well suited to open-plan living spaces, period properties, and commercial hospitality interiors where an aged timber floor would have been traditional. The natural and honey tones suit Scandinavian, contemporary and garden room aesthetics.
Absolu Parquet — French Dordogne Oak
For buyers who want the durability and density of hardwood, FP Bois produce the Absolu Parquet range — an engineered oak flooring made from French Dordogne oak, carrying both Pure Home technology and the Optimax Ceramic varnish finish.
What is Optimax Ceramic varnish?
Optimax Ceramic is a varnish system with ceramic reinforcement that gives exceptional resistance to wear, scratches and abrasion. It is also resistant to chemical agents, cigarette burns and indentation, and is certified for intensive residential and moderate commercial use. Combined with Pure Home, the floor is simultaneously harder-wearing, healthier, and lower maintenance than a standard varnished oak floor.
Absolu Parquet specifications and finishes
Absolu Parquet is available in three finishes:
- Verni Naturel — a warm natural varnish showing the golden oak grain clearly. Available at 150mm and 190mm width, 1995mm length, 14mm thick.
- Verni Invisible — an ultra-clear varnish developed to leave the wood looking completely unfinished while providing full protection. Available at 150mm and 190mm width.
- Oiled Naturel — a natural oil finish for a more traditional, matt appearance. Available at 190mm width only.
All Absolu Parquet is PEFC certified and Made in the Basque Country.
E-floor — Waterproof SPC Rigid Core Flooring
For rooms where timber flooring is not suitable — wet rooms, ground-floor extensions with concrete subfloors subject to moisture, or spaces requiring maximum durability — FP Bois offer the e-floor range of SPC rigid core flooring.
What is SPC flooring?
SPC stands for Stone Plastic Composite. The core is made from limestone powder and PVC at a density of 2000kg/m³ — far heavier and more rigid than standard LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile). e-floor is completely waterproof, extremely resistant to indentation, and dimensionally stable with temperature fluctuations.
e-floor is available in two product lines — Residential 32 and Intense 33, both in board format at 1220mm x 180mm. Residential 32 carries a 30-year warranty. Intense 33 carries a 10-year commercial warranty. Both carry the FloorScore indoor air quality certification and UV protection coating.

MOSO Bamboo Flooring
For the highest-traffic applications — or for buyers who want a certified sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood — FP Bois stock the MOSO Bamboo UltraDensity flooring range.
What is MOSO Bamboo UltraDensity?
MOSO Bamboo UltraDensity is a solid floor made from compressed bamboo strips manufactured using MOSO's proprietary UltraDensity process. This gives the boards exceptional hardness and stability — harder than most European hardwood species and certified for use in the most demanding conditions including high-traffic commercial areas.
MOSO Bamboo UltraDensity flooring was installed at Bordeaux Saint-Jean railway station — handling 18 million passengers a year — in 2016, and at Paris Gare du Nord in 2017.
