Bangor, LL57 4YH, North Wales | £60,000 - £70,000 a year | Permanent, Full-time

Operations Director

Help shape the future of one of the UK’s fastest-growing timber suppliers.

We have a newly created role for an experienced Operations Director who knows what it really means to grow a business, not just maintain one.

This is a hands-on leadership role within an ambitious SME, where you’ll manage day-to-day operations while building the foundations for future growth. Things aren’t perfect or fully formed, and that’s exactly the opportunity.

You’ll work closely with the Managing Director to turn growth plans into operational reality. That means bringing structure where it’s needed, improving how things run, and building an operation that can scale with confidence.

If you’ve been part of that journey before and enjoy making things work better, faster and smarter, you’ll fit right in.

The role

You’ll lead from the front, taking ownership of operations across warehousing, fulfilment, logistics and customer service.

In the early months, your focus will be on getting a grip of the day-to-day operations, managing a small team while creating structure and bringing consistency.

Alongside that, you’ll start to shape what comes next by improving systems, streamlining processes, and ensuring the operation can handle increased volume without increased chaos.

This is a role where you’ll need to balance thinking ahead with getting stuck in with operations management.

Why this role is different

You won’t be inheriting a polished operation. You’ll be overcoming current challenges and shaping the future for the business to scale.

Your decisions will directly impact performance, customer experience and the business’s ability to grow. You’ll start to see the results of your work quickly, and you’ll have the autonomy to make it happen.

What we’re looking for

We’re not looking for someone who’s only operated in large, highly structured environments.

We’re looking for an experienced senior leader who has:

  • Scaled or significantly improved operations within an SME
  • Worked in a fast-paced e-commerce, production or logistics environment
  • Brought structure and accountability into environments that needed it
  • Stayed close enough to the detail to make things actually happen

You’ve likely worked in a business where growth outpaced process, and you were the one who brought it back under control.

The package

  • Permanent contract with full-time hours, Monday to Friday
  • Salary in the region of £60,000 to £70,000 based on experience
  • Potential for profit-related bonus and future shareholding, reflecting the impact of the role
